Bull Shark Caught at Atwood Lake

Man catches Bull Shark at Atwood Beach .

Alonzo Simpson and his family drove down to Atwood Beach from Massillon for a day of fun and sun. But, after a few hours of swimming and playing, Alonzo noticed something in the water that shouldn’t be there. It is believed to be a bull shark. Alonzo quickly dove into the water with his tactical 440 bush knife and quickly dispatched the predator.

The bull shark, also known as the Zambezi shark, is a requiem shark commonly found worldwide in warm, shallow waters along coasts and in rivers. The bull shark is known for its aggressive nature, predilection for warm shallow water, and presence in freshwater systems including lakes and rivers.

Officials are awaiting conformation from Ohio Fish and Game before declaring the beach closed, but they are keeping an eye on the situation. Anyone that has a picture of the shark is encouraged to forward it on to M.W.C.D.
