City officials met with school officials to discuss the closing of the city’s only pool. “We have found a solution to the pool problem”, said City Councilman Armando Real. “We found algae in the competition pool and we can’t find a way to clean it. That’s when I got the idea to buy kiddie pools at Walmart”, added Real.
“It is not as fun as swimming in a Real pool but it’s the next best thing”, said Real. The City of Calexico bought one hundred small kiddie pools from Walmart to replace the large competition pool.
“I remember when we used to use the water hose”, said Councilwoman Maritza Hurtado. “Why do we need a competition pool? These kids are too spoiled”, added Hurtado. “Why do they need a pool, buy water hoses and we can water our parks.”, added Hurtado.
“Everybody complains our parks are drying up and nobody maintains them. Why not buy a water hose and get the Calexico youth to water our parks while playing in the water at the same time?”, said Councilman Bill Hodge.
