Cowboy Players Arrested, Injuries Following Bar Brawl

FRISCO – Jaylon Smith, Vidauntae “Taco” Charlton and Jourdan Lewis were involved in a nasty bar brawl early Thursday that resulted in five arrests and hospitalization for Charlton.

Smith, Charlton, and Lewis are currently in Frisco, TX attending Cowboy rookie training camp that began July 19th. The three were hanging out at the Firebelly Lounge when Charlton allegedly picked a fight with two local men after one of their girlfriends began talking to the former Michigan star.

The men went outside, where they began scuffling around 10 p.m. Police on patrol saw the struggle and broke it up, but the damage had already been done: Charlton was stabbed above the eye and in the jaw, throat, and arm, police said. He was treated at a local emergency room and released.

Ben Dover, 21, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill for allegedly stabbing Charlton.

While Dover was being handcuffed, another battle broke out. Smith β€” who was maced, according to witnesses β€” Lewis, and two other Frisco men were arrested and later released after posting bond. Lewis, who is facing trial later this year for unrelated felony assault charges, reportedly shouted, “I am a thug!” as he was being subdued by multiple officers.

Charlton returned home to Ohio to recuperate and is apparently consulting plastic surgeons for his wounds. “The situation could have been life-threatening,” a source told authorities. It is unclear whether Charlston will face criminal charges as the investigation continues.

Training camp is scheduled to continue, though with some scheduling changes to include an 8 p.m. curfew and chaperones for all off site activity, The Associated Press noted.

This incident is just the latest of a series of arrests over the past several years involving Cowboy players, firmly establishing Dallas as the thug team of the NFL. Charges have ranged from aggravated assault to choking in the playoffs. It’s worth noting the Pittsburgh Steelers have the most NFL championships in the Super Bowl era with 6 shiny Lombardi’s… one more than the Cowboys. Just sayin’
