Florida Bans all fishing

A ban on all fishing goes into affect starting August 1, 2017 and is expected to go through Jan. 1, 2019 in Florida. All Sportsmen and Commercial fishermen are covered by the ban. It affects areas more than three miles offshore from Florida’s east coast to Florida’s west coast. The Department of Natural Resources is working with the Department of health and human services to help create a more stress free home environment for families. The ban is to allow women the chance to get out and experience the thrill of fishing. Studies have shown that men use fishing as an excuse to get out of helping around the house and with the children, thus creating tension in the home. Although some men may face short-term withdraws now, the long-term benefit of a happy and stress free home is far greater.
