Detroit, Mich. – A Metro Detroit Area man is looking forward to a financial cushion after winning a $4.4 million jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.
Kevin Merritt matched all six Lotto 47 numbers drawn May 17: 09-13-17-24-30-33.
He bought his winning ticket at CVS, located at 2461 14 mile road, Warren MI
“I’ve been playing Lotto for years and I’ve won a few smaller prizes,” said the 40-year-old man. “My wife and I sat down to check our numbers and we were so excited to see we had won the jackpot.”
He visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim the jackpot. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $2.8 million rather than an annuity.
With his winnings, he plans to set up a college fund for his child, buy a new home and help his family, then invest the remainder in his music career.
“It feels great to have a cushion and know I can buy my mom a new home and pay off my in laws mortgage, also make sure my God children are ok” .
