Mililani Resident Signs To WWE!

In what many say was impossible, a young Mililani resident named Chris Gouveia did something he didn’t think he could do, and that was to get signed to a contract with the largest wrestling promotion in the world, WWE. “It took one video of me just ranting about Man Crush Mondays to get their attention. Very weird, but I got it, right? Although it was never my intention to get their attention, but I got it.”, Gouveia explained. The 21-year old is known for making rap music and rant videos on his Facebook, and one of his videos helped land him a contract with WWE. We contacted the company for their side of the story. WWE’s Cheif Operating Officer/Talent Relations VP and former WWE World Champion Paul Levesque, famously known as Triple H, expressed his views on their newest talent. “I’ll be honest with you, I was just scrolling down Facebook one night to find whatever is funny to help cheer me up from an argument with my wife, and suddenly I come across this video about Man Crush Mondays, whatever the hell that is. But this Chris guy, by hearing him speak candidly and passionately in his video made me see something very special in him. He’s gonna go down as one of the best promo cutters we’ve had in a long time. Let’s hope he’s able to run the ropes as well”, says Triple H. Gouveia says he’s been watching wrestling practically all his life starting at the age of 2, during the heights of the Attitude Era. When asked who his favorite wrestler was, it came off as a surprise. “My favorite wrestle of all time? Chris Benoit. I know these days, that may not be the most popular choice, but despite what happened 10 years ago with him and his family, he’s arguably one of the best, if not, THE best, technical wrestlers to ever set foot in any ring. Him winning the World Title at WrestleMania 20 back in 2004 was truly inspiring, and I wanna be able to replicate that moment one day.”, he told us. Before the Mililani High School 2014 grad could make an appearance on TV, he would have to get trained at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL. From there, he’ll learn some of the basics of in-ring performing as well as cutting promos. Once the trainers see the progress Chris makes, he’ll be wrestling for WWE’s developmental brand NXT, which airs every Wednesday night on the WWE Network. He’ll spend a certain amount of time there depending on any other progress he makes along the way. He will eventually make his way up to the main roster, where he will be sent to either WWE’s RAW or SmackDown brands.
