NEW law in Florida could cost motorcyclist more than double or triple the costs in traffic fines!

FLORIDA: a NEW little-known law, that went into effect at the beginning of this year 2017, in the state of Florida now Levy’s huge monetary fines for traffic offences committed by motorcyclists! Our team here at The Florida Investigative News Bureau wanted to delve into this deeper and find out exactly why this new law is needed and to what extent in benefits does it create that is allegedly superior to the status quo.

Here’s what we found out:
Our Investigative team questioned two Representatives (both of whom wish to remain anonymous) and the one representative we first spoke with was from the FHP. When asked why was this new law a viable passage in the house, this is what the representative had to say; “listen, studies have shown that up to 87% of traffic offenders pulled over for say speeding, have went on to recommit that same offense within the same trip that the first offence was committed on. Because the police officer or patrolman has already issued a violation to that person, then there is a very high likelihood that the same person would not get pulled over again for the 2nd offence on that trip, as these officers control regions and once the offender is out of the region then of course no ticket can be issued. This proves to be a huge loss for the county in which the offence was committed, monetarily speaking”. He also went on to say, “it is our hope in the passage of this new law that it will help Shore up the losses that could possibly be present by the fact that these repeat offenders are not being dealt with accordingly. Essentially, we know that these offenders will recommit the offense and so now we will get our money one way or the other and as a bonus to this, this will all create a much safer environment for both the cyclist and those on the shared roadway.”
A representative from the Florida Department of Public Safety concurs with this argument and hypothetical outcome for the state.
Here is a breakdown of the speeding fine totals or what we estimate to be the totals:
1st offence speeding – $250
2nd offence within the same calendar year – $1000 & vehicle impoundment.
2nd offence same day – $1500, vehicle impounded, license suspended 365 days.

We here at the Florida Investigative News Bureau feel that this new law is very biased and unfair. What do you think?
Is this law fair and in essence providing a more fiscally sound and safer environment in the state of Florida? We want to hear what you have to say. Please leave your comments below:
