New Study Suggests Lifting Light Weight for Minimal Repetitions is Best Way to Gain Lean Muscle Mass

Researchers at Harvard University sampled 100 men over the course of 5 years to determine the most efficient way of gaining muscle mass. The group was segmented into 2 sections. 1 group of 50 men trained with powerlifting trainer Abdul Hassan-Aziz. There results showed, on average, a 44% gain in muscle mass.
The other group trained with Japanese fitness guru (longtime trainer of Bruce Lee), Fukushima Yokoshi. After 5 years, this group noticed a 62% increase in muscle mass, on average. Yokoshi adamantly stated that no individual in his respective group utilized any weights above 15 lbs. Many have been very critical of these findings because they are largely contradictory of accepted practices in the powerlifting/bodybuilding community.
