An Illinois woman recently discovered a year-old winning lotto ticket in her home when she was cleaning, according to the North Carolina Lottery.
Amazingly, the lucky woman — Ginger Finley — found the ticket just eight days before it expired, the North Carolina Lottery said in a news release on Monday. The ticket was worth $11 million. Finley purchased the winning ticket last year in November at a mini market along a highway in North Carolina the state’s lottery agency said.
Finley then placed the ticket in an envelope and put it in her home on the table, where it was left forgotten for a whole year, the North Carolina Lottery added.
The mini market that sold the winning ticket will receive a 1 percent bonus, the North Carolina State Lottery said.
