PowerBall winner found after a year

An Illinois woman recently discovered a year-old winning lotto ticket in her home office that she was cleaning, according to the North Carolina Lottery.

Amazingly, the lucky woman — Ginger Finley — found the ticket just eight days before it expired, the North Carolina Lottery said in a news release on Monday. The ticket was worth $11 million. Finley purchased the winning ticket last year in November at a mini market along a highway in North Carolina the state’s lottery agency said. Panisa then placed the ticket in an envelope and put it in his home office, where it was left forgotten for a whole year, the Oregon Lottery added.

The mini market that sold the winning ticket will receive a 1 percent bonus, the North Carolina State Lottery said.
