Several people were stabbed at a house party here in Calexico. The identity of the suspect is known to police but they want to give him the opportunity to turn himself in.
“We want to give this person the chance to do the right thing and turn himself in.”, says Lieutenant Gonzalo Gerardo. “Yes, he stabbed multiple people and yes, he tried to kill them but he may have remorse you never know”. “Technically we don’t have an investigation unit and nobody trusts Calexico Police so it’s hard to get help from other agencies.”, added Gerardo.
But if he resists arrest, he might get hurt, Gerardo explained.
“We’re dealing with somebody who assaulted somebody, so the officer safety is a little bit higher. If he makes any sudden move for his waistband or if he takes out a knife, the probability of him being tazed or shot or batoned are a lot higher,” Gerardo said. “We can barely afford tazers.”, said Gerardo. “Don’t make us look for one to use on you just turn yourself into the Imperial County Jail and you can save us on gas too. Just book yourself in.”, added Gerardo.
“Were facing a big budget deficit and if criminals would just book themselves into jail they would save us on gas. If they had access to a computer maybe they can write up report and save us money on paying officers too.”, said Gerardo.
