The Aiken County safety board has changed the local residential speed limit laws to be increased to 45 mph through all residential areas for the Aiken County and city limits. This change will take effect July 25, 2017. It was unanimously voted on by the Aiken Safety Board stating that too much time is being spent by police officers being called by residences reporting people violating the current 10 mph speed zone. We are in hopes this change will free our police officers up to hit the streets to fight more serious crimes.
