At 23:45 hours on July 27th, 2017, NYSW and DHL reached a contract that would enable the Susquehanna to provide daily service to them via their Southern Division and Norfolk Southern’s Southern Tier. The service would be intermodal daily trains dedicated solely to DHL. The service will begin in early August.

Melanie Boyer, spokeswoman for the NYSW, said “Among a changing railroad culture this is a big deal for us. We have never operated trains dedicated to solely one customer that is a major carrier before. We are excited to assist them and give them the best service that is possible.”

DHL plans to build a facility in Little Ferry. That will be done by early February the company said in an email. When asked to comment on this, DHL said: “To partner up with the NYS&W railroad and run to and fro New Jersey is really cool. It opens up a new market door for us, and we are excited to enter this journey amidst a changing railroad culture.”
