Wisconsin Deer Season Canceled in 3 Counties

The Wisconsin DNR announced this morning that due to a rare virus carried by ticks that has been discovered in three Wisconsin counties, the 2017 deer hunting season will be curtailed in those counties.
Bruce Piddlequast, DNR deer herd commander for northern Wisconsin, announced that tissue samples from 5 deer culled from Ashland, Price and Iron County herds were found late last week to contain the tickborn virus Noranthraxis Grativa (NARG).
NARG is linked to testicular shrinkage in males and birth defects.
A full list of additional affected WI counties is expected early next week.
