On July 17, 2017, The X-Files star David Duchovny was found dead in his trailer on set of the newest season of The X-Files. The hit show ran from 1993-2002 on Fox, and resumed filming for another season in 2015. Only partway through filming season 11 of The X-Files, Duchovny’s death comes as a shock to those who were closest to him.
Chris Carter, creator of The X-Files said of Duchovny, “The world mourns the loss of a pretty okay man and a, well, mediocre actor.”
Gillian Anderson refused to comment on her co-star’s passing, but instead hummed the X-Files theme for seven minutes.
Téa Leoni, Duchovny’s X-Wife, made this statement on Twitter, ” I can’t believe he’s finally gone. #RIP #thetruthisoutthere #sayhitothealiensforme #davidduchovny #exhusbandproblems”.
Fox has not yet released details surrounding Mulder-er, Duchovny’s death.
