Norfolk Southern keeps the momentum rolling

NEWBURGH, NY
A deal was announced early this morning between Norfolk Southern Corp. and Gulf, Sunoco, Shell, and some other fuel providers to carry gasoline and diesel fuels. This deal comes in an era when rail traffic is at an all time high. The deal is to carry those fuels to a gulf station in Vails Gate, near CP 8 on the Northern Tier Line and haul empty ones away for refills. When asked to comment about this, Norfolk Southern mentioned that a new siding will have to be constructed there to make this possible. The siding will house the tank cars. The full statement the company gave is:
“Norfolk Southern Corp is proud to acquire a deal of this kind. This is the first known deal to us of this type, so this is a big deal, and these are big fossil fuel players. We estimate that service will begin later this year, in the early fall.”
