97.3 WXXR to change format on October 1st.

The management of 97.3 WXXR-LP in Terre Haute Indiana recently announced it’s Active Rock, X97.3 The Bird will have a new musical format in place on October 1st at 12pm. The format flip is due to several factors, said Duane Daugherty, the station’s founder and co-owner. “For one, the Active Rock format proved to be a challenge to market”, Mr. Daugherty states, he goes on to continue saying, “The station is almost bankrupt and in order to remain on the air a format change is needed”. What will take the place of current Active Rocker X97.3 The Bird WXXR? We are told that we will have to wait and see on October 1st. Channel 23 News as made several attempts to reach out to James Tucker WXXR’s program director and co-owner of the station for further comment. However, we were unable to contact Mr. Tucker.
