James Rathbone, Moderator of local Facebook Film Group Advocates Self-Censorship

In a draconian move this Thursday, James Rathbone, moderator of the local Toronto film group “Boosie Fade Film Group” advocated for more self-censorship to minimize differences of opinions and perpetuate the internet echo chamber.

In the post, he stated “next time you feel the urge to post something negative..consider just deleting what you’ve written.” Many members have done just that. As it stands, negative comments or disagreements will no longer be tolerated.

Fellow members agree, the group is happier, more positive and rather dulled since the recent change. In response, one member quoted Carol Reed’s fan favourite “The Third Man,” saying “Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love – they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly.”

And so long to Boosie Fade.
