Cabarrus County Mother Arrested after popping into child’s classroom with extension cord

A local Cabarrus county woman was charged with assault of a minor after showing up to her daughter’s school to check on her. Her daughter had been recently having some behavioral issues with her teachers and peers and the mother became frustrated. The police report stated that the woman, 32 year old Lauren Stanton, showed up to the school in all black with an orange 10 ft extension cord and a belt in order to rectify the problem with her daughter. Her daughter then ran out of the classroom but the mother caught her in the back with the extension cord. It was said that someone overheard one student yelling, “Ricccckkkkkyyyyy” once the child was hit.

She is currently in custody in Cabarrus County Jail. Bond set at 1500.
