KPCN – A 58 year old Avilla, Indiana man was arrested Wednesday on charges of pedophilia, statutory rape, sodomy, child pornography and for being a common nuisance.
At approximately 9:12 pm on Wednesday, police forced their way into the home of James Neal Bauman, Jr. On County Rd 7, rural Avilla with an arrest warrant in their hands.
After a year long investigation into Mr. Bauman, police from Avilla, Garrett, DeKalb County, Indiana State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation finally collected enough hard evidence to request an arrest warrant from the courts.
Evidence indicates that Mr. Bauman has committed lewd, perverted sexual acts with numerous minor females and a few minor males. These acts include consensual acts of sex, forced rape by coercion, sodomy, as well as numerous acts of oral sex and perverted sex acts.
Mr. Bauman put up a fight and had to be tasered numerous times, which only seemed to turn him on. Mr. Bauman told the arresting officers that he would settle down if they would allow him to perform oral sex on them. His offer was denied and Mr. Bauman was finally subdued by an officer’s baton. Mr. Bauman has also been charged with resisting arrest and bribery.
If prosecuted, Mr. Bauman stands the chance of spending the rest of his life in prison without parole. Please bear in mind that Mr. Bauman is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
