Emoji movie spin-off TV show, Sony confirms

On Friday, sources from Sony pictures animation confirmed that a television show will be airing sometime in early 2019. The show, called “ Gene and Jailbreak: Circuit City” will feature most of the original characters. It will also feature some new ones such as Shades, the cool, sunglasses emoji, and Ted, a zesty and energetic toaster. The casting will mostly remain the same except for a few changes. First, Benedict Cumberbatch will replace James Corden in the role of Hi-5 the lovable hand emoji. Also, Amy Schumer will be replacing Maya Rudolph as Smiler, the evil smiley emoji. In the show, Gene and His girlfriend, Jailbreak will go on zany adventures throughout Alex’s phone. The 30 episodes will be composed of two short 13 minute sections. The first season will contain 20-25 episodes. Nickelodeon has already bought the rights to Gene and various other characters. Seen as Nick is creating more and more cartoons they thought it would be good to cash in on emojis. One spokesperson from Nick told us, “The show may suck. It’ll make us a crap ton of money”. The movie got horrible reviews but, made loads of money. This is from constant product placements and endorsements from apps and tech companies. There is a long way to go but, it’s predicted to be a success. That is all that’s known right now about the show. There is over a year until the show airs therefore a lot can change
