How I Landed a Spot on Television, Gained Exposure to 200,000 Viewers With No Previous Experience
True Story – back in September, I came across an advertisement for MPT’s
“Friday Freeview”. Once a month, MPT provides viewers with a free preview of an upcoming PBS or MPT production and the Freeview for September was, Poldark. Perfect! I love the show and was happy to go. Afterwards, I stayed back, looked for a friendly face, introduced myself and Coaches Corner. I mentioned wanting to get the word out and inquired about being featured on, “Your Community” . Wouldn’t you know it, the woman with the friendly face just so happened to be a VP and gave me the contact information for the department in question. In October, I went to the studio, met Rhea Fiken, recorded the clip and presto, drum roll please….here it is; the video clip that is currently running on MPT!!!
It feels good to reap the fruits of your labor – to go for “it” and “it” actually happens.
