POWNAL – Dekeitria Wiggins, 26, was found dead on March 11, 2018 in Pownal of apparent self strangation and multiple cuts to the wrist says Officer Jacobs. Bennington State Police showed up to the scene after a passerby called to report a suspicious car parked on the side of the road off of US-7. Upon arrival, Officer Jacobs says he noticed the driver side window was open and a ligature surrounding Wiggins neck was attached to a tree 8 m behind the car. Officer Jacobs states, “Ms. Wiggins dress was blood soaked due to bleeding from wrist cuts. There was a suicide note on the front panel of the car. This was an awful sight to see”. Detective Lt. Reginald Lewis says, additionally, multiple wrist-cuts of approximately 5 cm in length were noticed on anterior side of both wrists. No traces of alcohol or drugs were detected in the vehicle.
