A man identified as Fred, took a wrong turn and headed right down a flight of stairs. He had two passengers in the Toyota Camry and was on the way to pick up a third when he took a wrong turn outside a Safeway store on Market Street. No one was injured but the incident took a turn for the worse when the cable connecting the car to a tow truck snapped, sending the car into a trash can, knocking it off its screws, and then into a fire hydrant. Fred says the Uber map he was using instructed him to go down the stairs. It turns out that the mixed-up motorist isn’t the first driver to make that mistake. In 2014, a driver for Vina Cab also drove down the same staircase.
