Beer league Goaltender Shaun Siebert has been called upon on an emergency basis to tend goal for the Montreal Canadiens against the New Jersey Devils tonight. Star goalie Carey Price injured himself at home in a freak accident involving a toaster and will be out for a few days. Back up goalie Antti Niemi was to start in his place but also suffered a freak accident at home choking.
Siebert was given the nod in a bizarre week of another beer league goalie, Scott Foster playing 14 minutes for the Chicago Blackhawks Friday evening in Chicago and stopping all 7 shots he faced. Foster caught the imagination of beer league goalies everywhere with his surprise performance .
Siebert has to his credit two all star game appearances, and a championship trophy with the Calgary Rustlers in Beer league hockey in Calgary, Alberta.
