Japanese Nintendo Video Game Designer, Masahiro Sakurai, Dead at Age 48

Masahiro Sakurai was a video game developer who used to work for HAL Laboratory before leaving the company. He was most famous for making Kirby and the video game franchise, Super Smash Bros. He also was the voice actor of King Dedede, in the Japanese dub of the anime β€œKirby Right Back At Ya!” a character from the Kirby series, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

On Early September 6, a maximum-intensity earthquake struck southwestern Hokkaido, killing at least 8 people, destroying buildings, triggering landslides that buried houses, and cutting off electricity to all homes on the main northern island. Sadly, a beloved individual to many people was one of these people who had died. He was found under landslides, triggered by the Hokkaido earthquake.
