In a recent study conducted by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources shows a serious decrease in fish and aquatic wildlife due to overfishing and poaching. The Department of Natural Resources and Department of Environmental Protection Agency has announced that starting May 7, 2017 fishing seasons will be temporarily suspended until May 1, 2020. This will give the Department of Natural Resources much needed time to properly restock and repopulate all major rivers and water ways in West Virginia. The Department of Natural Resources have stated that any person found fishing will be fined upwards of $10,000 and possible jail time of up to 10 years in Federal prison.
